Martini Film Studios Acquires Lighthouse Pictures

Full-Service Production Studios Takes Majority Stake in Leading Vancouver Production Company

April 9, 2024: As part of its expansion into service and original production in film and TV, the full-service facility Martini Film Studios has acquired a majority stake in Lighthouse Pictures, the Vancouver-based production company helmed by industry leaders Jamie Goehring  and Shawn Williamson. The deal will see Lighthouse Pictures’ current management and production teams remain at the company.

The Emmy-nominated producer Shawn Williamson (Good Doctor, Upload, Firefly Lane) and Canadian production veteran, Jamie Goehring (Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, Three Wise Men and a Baby, Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance), co-founded Lighthouse Pictures in 2012.  The company specializes in producing genre film and TV projects for a range of leading networks and platforms, including Hallmark, A&E/ Lifetime, Marvista, Netflix, Disney, Sony, GAF and CBS/ Viacom, with over 250 projects produced during the last 10 years. Lighthouse Pictures continues to be recognized and receive industry praise with Canadian Screen Awards nominations and numerous Leo Awards wins including five Leos for “Best Picture.”

Lighthouse Pictures’ productions include Three Wise Men and a Baby for Hallmark, which was the highest rated cable show for 2022; the Academy Award-nominated writer of Nebraska, Bob Nelson’s directorial debut, The Confirmation starring Clive Owen, Maria Bello, Patton Oswalt and Matthew Modine; and for Netflix, 1922, a film based on Stephen King’s novella starring Thomas Jane, Molly Parker, and Neal McDonough.

Martini Film Studios was founded in 2017 by Gemma Martini and is now one of Vancouver’s successful film and television full-service studios. Soon after the studios opened, NETFLIX signed a five-year agreement to become the lead tenant of the studios, which has since been extended for a further five years, with other companies such as Warner Bros. ITV, CBS and independent features also filming at the studios.

“Over recent years, I have witnessed the great reputation and success that Jamie and Shawn have built with Lighthouse Pictures and the quality of their work. We have had the pleasure of working closely with their teams, hosting many of their productions at our production facilities and backlot,” said Gemma Martini.

Shawn Williamson and Jamie Goehring, Partners and Executive Producers at Lighthouse Pictures, said: “This milestone partnership with Martini Film Studios – which has established itself as a hotbed for major international productions – comes during a vital period of expansion for our company. It will significantly fuel our growth plans, as we continue producing content with our long-standing partners and attracting more projects to British Columbia. Alongside this deal with the Martini team, we’re also committed to developing and producing our own IP for the international stage.”

Gemma Martini said: “The opportunity to acquire a majority stake in Lighthouse has come at a time where we are growing our own production activity and the Martini brand. In 2020, we launched the Martini Entertainment Group, with George Patterson and David Shepheard and have since built a robust slate of original and co-produced IP. I look forward to working with Jamie and the Lighthouse team to help produce some of our new shows and expanding the business together here in Canada and in other markets.”
